Insurance Department busts alleged $40 million medical scheme

In total, 26 doctors, pharmacists, and business owners throughout the state were charged.

The state Department of Insurance and prosecutors in Orange County shut down a $40 million fraudulent medical billing and kickback scheme, they said Thursday, filing charges against more than two dozen doctors and business owners.
