Supreme Court Restores Fourth Amendment Rights of Parolees

Focus Column - Criminal Law - By Alex Ricciardulli - Over the last several years, courts have curtailed significantly the Fourth Amendment rights of individuals on probation and parole. However, a new opinion from the state Supreme Court - People v. Sanders , 31 Cal.4th 318 (2003) - has signaled that California is willing to restore search-and-seizure protections to many of these people.
