Judge Puts Deadline on State Over Nursing Home Complaints

SAN FRANCISCO - A Superior Court judge Tuesday gave the state Department of Health Services eight months to clear up a backlog of nearly 1,000 complaints about nursing homes, noting that the agency has not complied for "a very long time" with a law requiring response within 10 days.
