Veteran Loyola Law School Professor Named New Dean

Victor J. Gold had been serving as interim dean since January, when David W. Burcham left the post to become executive vice president and provost of Loyola Marymount University, the law school's parent institution. He is the school's 16th dean in its 88-year history.

LOS ANGELES - Loyola Law School named Victor J. Gold its new dean Friday.

Gold, 58, an expert on evidence law, began teaching at the Jesuit school's Frank Gehry-designed campus in 1984.

"I know this school extremely well," Gold said. "It has a superb faculty, it has a great alumni base, terrific students and it has a very, very bright future."
