Few provisions of the U.S. Constitution are as controversial - or are the subject of more misinformation - as the Second Amendment. According to the National Rifle Association and other members of the gun lobby, the Second Amendment guarantees the absolute right of every American to own any gun, any place, any time, and is therefore an obstacle to laws seeking to reduce the senseless gun violence that plagues our nation.
