Baseball Clubs Turn Infield Fly Rule on the IRS

SAN FRANCISCO - Major League Baseball owners paid $280 million in 1990 to put behind them allegations that they colluded to depress the salaries of free-agent players. Now the Internal Revenue Service has hit owners with tax bills claiming the settlement as wages - subject to payroll taxes.
