Judge Schroeder Takes Senior Status

Ninth Circuit Judge Mary M. Schroeder announced Thursday that she will assume senior status Jan. 1, 2012.


Ninth Circuit Judge Mary M. Schroeder announced Thursday that she will assume senior status Jan. 1, 2012. The Phoenix-based jurist, 70, is the first woman to have served as the circuit's chief judge, from 2000 to 2007. A 1979 President Jimmy Carter appointee, her move will free another active judgeship for President Barack Obama to fill.
