Truck Driver Liable For Accident

In a ruling that could expose more deep-pocket defendants to lawsuits, the state Supreme Court held Monday that a truck driver who pulled off the road to eat a sandwich can be held liable for the death of a motorist who hit the parked big rig.

In a ruling that could expose more deep-pocket defendants to lawsuits, the state Supreme Court held Monday that a truck driver who pulled off the road to eat a sandwich can be held liable for the death of a motorist who hit the parked big rig.


The unanimous ruling reinstated a $475,000 jury verdict against Ralphs Grocery Co. Cabral v. Ralphs Grocery Co., 2011 DJDAR 3140.
