San Francisco County Superior Judge Ellen Chaitin retiring

After two decades on the bench, San Francisco County Superior Court Judge Ellen L. Chaitin is retiring.

After two decades on the bench, San Francisco County Superior Court Judge Ellen L. Chaitin is retiring.

Chaitin, who currently handles civil matters, said it was "just time" to move onto something else. Her last day is Nov. 2, but said she would like to continue work as a visiting judge.

"I don't consider this retirement. I consider it transition," said Chaitin, 64. "There are other parts of my brain I want to explore....
