Landau Lawyers League crowns three

The Landau Lawyers League fall basketball season wrapped up in December with three divisions crowning champions. In the "A" division, semi-final playoff action saw Sias Carr crush Latham & Watkins LLP 66-50. Girardi Keese also advanced to the finals after Irell & Manella LLP was forced to forfeit. In the championship, Sias Carr once again dominated, blitzing Girardi Keese 76-51. Davis Cantor of Sias Carr was named the MVP of the game after scoring 20 points. The "B" division first-round playoffs featured a pair of close games with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP edging Bingham McCutchen LLP 56-49 and Paul Hastings LLP beating Sidley Austin LLP 55-49. In the semi-finals, two teams that earned first-round byes had mixed luck with McGuireWoods LLP easily handling Paul Hasting 61-48 while Baker Hostetler LLP couldn't keep pace with a streaking Pillsbury who won, again, by a score of 56-49. Pillsbury continued its run in the championship game defeating Baker Hostetler by the narrowest of margins – 69-68 – with Sanjay Paul taking home MVP honors for the victors. The "C" division saw four rounds of action as a host of teams competed for the title. In the first round, Pircher, Nichols & Meeks massacred Richards Watson Gershon PC 42-20 while Caldwell Leslie & Proctor PC handled business in a match up with O'Melveny & Myers LLP, winning 50-40. In the quarter-finals, Pircher Nichols again showed up defensively beating Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP 37-24. Caldwell Leslie didn't survive the second round, falling to Alexander Krakow & Glick LLP 52-41. Kramer & Kramer LLP defeated Glaser Weil Fink Howard Avchen & Shapiro LLP 53-42 and Allen Matkins Leck Gamble Mallory & Natsis LLP knocked off Gibbs Giden Locher Turner Senet & Wittbrodt LLP 49-42.
