SACRAMENTO — U.S. Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced Wednesday he is stepping down as top federal prosecutor for the Eastern District of California, a post he has held for more than six years.
Wagner, 56, will officially leave office at midnight April 30. First Assistant U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Lambert will step in as Acting U.S. Attorney on May 1.
