Win for Alaskans despite open questions
The Supreme Court left some questions unanswered in a recent case — questions that may have greater significance for the rest of the country. These questions regard the extent of federal rights over navigable waters. By Ethan Blevins





Questions still loom after the U.S. Supreme Court's recent holding in Sturgeon v. Frost, 2016 DJDAR 2754 (March 22, 2016). The court reversed the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals' holding that nationwide National Park Service regulations apply to the pockets of non-federal land within Alaska's national parks. But the court remanded for the 9th Circuit to grapple with issues that stray beyond Alaska's climes.
