Court splits begin to roll in
Last week, and again Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court split 4-4.




Last week, the U.S. Supreme Court delivered an evenly divided order in Hawkins v. Community Bank of Raymore, 2016 DJDAR 2760 (March 22, 2016), the first decision since the death of Justice Antonin Scalia that the court has affirmed in a 4-4 split. The court issued the order without an opinion, thereby resolving the Hawkins case but providing no precedential decision to resolve the circuit split that Hawkins had created.
