Wrongful death lawsuit against LA County Sheriff wants better treatment of mentally ill

What started as a driving citation eventually lead to the death of a mentally ill man after the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department discharged him into the streets alone, according to a lawsuit filed by Geragos & Geragos attorneys.

A lawsuit filed Wednesday seeks to reform how the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department addresses custody of mentally ill individuals after it allegedly discharged an unmedicated man onto the street without notifying his family, resulting in his mysterious death a few days later.
