Cooley Godward: IPO Will Inject New Funds Into San Diego Drug Firm

Acadia Pharmaceuticals Inc. has planned an initial public offering worth $70 million. Based in San Diego, Acadia develops drugs by identifying gene products. It collaborates with Irvine eye care company Allergan Inc. to develop drugs for glaucoma and chronic pain. The company also has treatments for Alzheimer's disease and schizophrenia in preclinical development. It plans to expand its research and development to include treatments for conditions like depression and obesity.
