Limits on Care

Forum Column - By Jim Preis - The ink had barely dried on the Governor's signature making AB1421 law when the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors ordered the director of the Department of Mental Health to create implementation plans for involuntary outpatient mental health treatment authorized by the legislation. Because AB1421 is dependent on intensive resources being available in the community, it will be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to implement.
