MECHANICAL DYNAMICS WILL ACQUIRE BUSINESS FOR CASH

Mechanical Dynamics Inc. has agreed to acquire MSC.Software Inc. for $120 million. The cash deal was announced March 18. Ann Arbor, Mich.'s Mechanical Dynamics produces and sells software that creates models of complex mechanical systems, such as cars. Its ADAMS software allows automotive companies to design prototypes that can simulate road surface and tire interaction as well as driver reaction to driving conditions.
