Judge Rejects Online Music Patent, Citing Its Public Use

SAN FRANCISCO - A federal judge in Oakland appears to have dealt a major blow to a San Francisco company's attempt to assert a patent to a widely used process that allows Internet browsers to sample parts of songs offered for sale on Web sites such as Amazon.com.
