LOS GATOS' IDENTIX PLANS FOR A VISIONARY MERGER

Identix Inc. and Visionics Corp. agreed to merge on Feb. 22. The stock deal is worth $600 million. Los Gatos-based Identix makes and sells fingerprint identification products that are used to control access to buildings and networks, secure financial transactions and run background checks. It makes technology that takes an electronic image of the fingerprint that is used in forensic screening and background checks.
