Board Members Give Belmont Thumbs Up
LOS ANGELES - The Board of Education has voted to complete the $154 million Belmont Learning Complex in downtown Los Angeles. The 6-1 vote on Tuesday authorized Superintendent Roy Romer to begin contract negotiations with the Alliance for a Better Community, one of two bidders that responded to the Los Angeles Unified School District's requests for proposals to complete or sell the environmentally troubled school. School board member Julie Korenstein voted against the proposal.
