LOS ANGELES - District Attorney Steve Cooley got high praise Monday from odd bedfellows - an outspoken criminal defense attorney and the union representing more than 9,000 Los Angeles Police Department officers - about the steps he is taking to balance the rights of defendants to fair trials against the privacy rights of law enforcement officers.
