SAN DIEGO - A veteran judge swept past his opponent with 52 percent of the vote Tuesday to become San Diego's next mayor. Dick Murphy, 57, will be sworn into office Dec. 4 to replace Mayor Susan Golding, who after serving two four-year terms was prohibited by term limits from running again.
