Weil announces attorney, staff layoffs

Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP is enacting layoffs and pay cuts, the firm announced Monday in a firmwide email.

Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP is enacting layoffs and pay cuts, the firm announced Monday in a firmwide email.

The cuts will predominantly affect the firm's Boston and Houston offices, the firm said.

New York-based executive partner and management committee chair Barry M. Wolf, author of the email, said the layoffs come as a result of a "new normal" in the legal market after the 2008 financial crisis.
