Disbarred OC lawyer sentenced to a year for embezzling $150,000 from auto-accident clients

Tuan Thanh Tran, who was disbarred in November, pleaded guilty to stealing more than $150,000 from settlements for auto-accident clients. He was sentenced to one year in jail.

A disbarred lawyer from Irvine must spend a year in jail for stealing more than $150,000 from settlements owed to five auto accident clients.


Tuan Thanh Tran, 44, pleaded guilty last week to 10 felony counts of embezzlement by a fiduciary. An additional 11 counts of forgery were dismissed. People v. Tran, 12CF2363 (O.C. Super. Ct., filed Sept. 7, 2012).
