Los Angeles County Superior Court sees layoffs take effect

Court reporters, courtroom assistants and accountants were among the employees of Los Angeles Superior Court who were laid off, took pay cuts, had their job eliminated or moved to a new location on Friday.

LOS ANGELES - Court reporters, courtroom assistants and accountants were among the employees of Los Angeles Superior Court who were laid off, took pay cuts, had their job eliminated or moved to a new location on Friday. Months of dismal forecasts about the court's budget culminated in drastic staff changes - including 177 layoffs - needed to help close an $85 million gap.
