Livermore Labs Face Age-Discrimination Claims

More than 100 former employees of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory are filing anti-discrimination claims against Lawrence Livermore National Security, the private company co-owned by Bechtel Corp. and the University of California that operates the Livermore-based laboratory. They claim they were targeted for layoffs because of their age.

DUBLIN - David Hill, 44, said he felt secure in his job while working as a machinist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for 17 years. He was further motivated by an award the laboratory gave him for his work on a new anti-personnel weapon being sent to Iraq.
