Water Expert Tapped to Shape Global Laws

RIVERSIDE - Eric Garner grew up playing alongside a creek that meandered through his family's backyard in North Carolina. Later, he visited major waterways in his extensive global travels. One was the River Thames in London and another the Seine in France.

The experiences, he said, underscored the beauty and importance of bodies of water. In fact, he's devoted his life to protecting them.
