Lerach Says He Will Retire at End of Week to Resolve Investigation
William S. Lerach, the controversial plaintiffs’ lawyer who helped transform private-shareholder litigation into a major field of law, said Tuesday he is retiring. Lerach said he will step down as head of his law firm at the end of the week so he can concentrate on resolving the long-running federal criminal investigation into his role in an alleged kickback scheme.
