SF judge approves Volkswagen's settlement with franchise dealers

Volkswagen settled claims brought by its network of branded franchise dealers Monday regarding the automaker's scandal over emission control devices for $1.67 billion. The average settlement payout per class member is $1.85 million.

Volkswagen AG settled claims brought by its network of branded franchise dealers Monday regarding the automaker's scandal over emission control devices for $1.67 billion. The average settlement payout per class member is $1.85 million.

The settlement was unanimously approved by the dealers, with 99 percent of the class members participating.
