Draft minutes said State Bar executive director was fired 'without cause'

Ex-bar Executive Director Joseph L. Dunn alleges removal of that language was one of several material pieces of information omitted from the final board minutes of closed-session meetings in which his employment future was discussed.

A State Bar trustee's draft meeting minutes indicated the board approved firing former Executive Director Joseph L. Dunn "without cause" if he did not resign, but that language was removed from the final minutes the board ratified, according to discovery produced in Dunn's lawsuit against the bar.
