Transactions slowed slightly in 2016 compared to 2015, but still ranks as third most active year on record.

In a year that slowed 12 percent on the dealmaking front while still ranking as the third most active year on record, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Affiliates led the pack in completing U.S. deals nationwide with over $553 billion across 168 deals, according to Thomson Reuters Corp.
