Judge expresses new confidence in case against Israeli banker

After excoriating it last month, a federal judge Friday expressed new confidence in federal prosecutors' case against an Israeli banker accused of helping U.S. citizens evade taxes.

LOS ANGELES - A federal judge Friday expressed new confidence in federal prosecutors' case against an Israeli banker accused of helping U.S. citizens evade taxes.


U.S. District Judge John F. Walter said after reading newly filed government documents, he felt comfortable that prosecutors could win their case against Shokrollah Baravarian, a former executive at Mizrahi Tefahot Bank Ltd.
