Study: First quarter law firm mergers at four-year high

The legal industry saw the highest number of law firm mergers and acquisitions in a single quarter since the first quarter of 2009, according to a study released Thursday.

The legal industry saw the highest number of law firm mergers and acquisitions in a single quarter since the first quarter of 2009, according to a study released Thursday.

There were 21 law firm combinations announced in the U.S. in the first quarter of this year, including four in Western states, said the study by Altman Weil Mergerline, an online service of Altman Weil Inc. that tracks law firm combinations.
