WASHINGTON - Although President Barack Obama will likely renominate U.S. Magistrate Judge Edward M. Chen to the district court bench in San Francisco, his chances of winning confirmation rest on how much help he receives in the face of a disciplined minority party that has rallied around blocking Obama's agenda, political analysts said.
