Retired Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Francis A. Gately, Jr. has died.

Gately, 68, passed away Christmas Eve after suffering from a heart attack, said his longtime friend and colleague, Judge Peter Meeka. Gately retired in 2008 after 19 years on the bench, but had been sitting on assignment at the Alhambra Courthouse.
