Shearman & Sterling: MOTOROLA AGREES TO STOCK PURCHASE OF SYNCHRONOUS
Motorola Inc. of Shaumburg, Ill. has agreed to purchase San Jose-based Synchronous Inc. in a stock transaction valued at $260 million. Motorola manufactures mobile phones, embedded microprocessors and infrastructure equipment for wireless communication. The acquisition will strengthen the company's Motorola Broadband Communications Sector, whose technology delivers interactive television, the Internet and telephone services over wired and wireless networks.
