9th Circuit upholds federal orders on energy manipulation

The panel denied a request for review by companies that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission found violated state law.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission was within its bounds to levy tariffs on a group of energy companies it claimed violated several state laws during the California energy crisis in 2000, a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel ruled Thursday.
