State Bar to turn to high court after lawmakers don't approve dues bill

The chief justice's objection to reform proposals played a key role in no funding bill being passed.

California Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye put up firm resistance to the most significant legislative proposals to reform the State Bar, and her objections were a key factor in state lawmakers failing to enact a bill funding the agency by the end of their 2016 session Thursday morning.
