Gov. Brown vetoes 50 hour pro bono bill

Brown wrote in his veto message that while he supports law students and lawyers providing pro bono legal services, he did not believe a state mandate could be justified.

Gov. Jerry Brown on Monday vetoed legislation that would have required law school students to complete 50 hours of pro bono work prior to admission to the State Bar.

Brown wrote in his veto message that while he supports law students and lawyers providing pro bono legal services, he did not believe a state mandate could be justified.
