LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles County Superior Court will likely begin laying off referees in September, in the second round of projected layoffs, according to a document obtained by the Daily Journal. It would be the first time in several years that layoffs at the courts would target those judicial officers, who serve the same function as judges.
