Last week, Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law Assembly Bill 560, a bill barring the
consideration of immigration status of children involved in civil lawsuits. The law
protects minor children who seek civil remedies through the courts from inquiries
about their immigration status. It clarifies that in such cases, immigration status
is irrelevant.
