Judge Tosses Councilman's Corruption Conviction
SAN DIEGO - A federal judge on Thursday threw out corruption convictions of former City Councilman Michael Zucchet. U.S. District Judge Jeffrey T. Miller threw out three extortion charges and four wire fraud charges. He also ordered a new trial on two remaining charges, one of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and the second of wire fraud.
