Panel Says Judge's Excuses for Absences 'Not Believeable'

SAN FRANCISCO - A panel of special masters has determined that Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patrick B. Murphy, who attended a Caribbean medical school during some of the 400 days he took off since 1996 as "sick," is simply a malingerer who lied about being ill in order to pursue a medical career.
