Unsigned Fee-Splitting Deals Aren't Worthless

SAN FRANCISCO - The California Supreme Court held unanimously Monday that an attorney who violates State Bar rules by failing to secure a client's consent to a contingency fee-splitting agreement with another attorney can still go to court to recover compensation for time spent working on the case.
