Opinions of Human Resources Experts Shouldn't Be Obvious

Focus Column - Employment Law - By Jeffrey K. Winikow - Thirty years ago, a "personnel expert" would have done little more than select a ripe watermelon for the company picnic. Today, however, there is a cottage industry of "human resources experts" offering opinions on a wide range of issues in employment litigation. Some courts allow this type of testimony; other courts do not. Often the propriety of an expert's testimony will turn on how counsel frames the issues.
