The house band revs it up every night facing the same bar where Janis Joplin, Jack Lalaine, and Steve McQueen once stood, smoking and drinking., Now, in their place, stands weary shoppers, tourists, and recently, outraged preservationists who seek historic landmark status for this cocktail lounge.
