Jailed attorney's suit for legal fees and damages tossed

The attorney, who was sentenced to 17 years in prison and forced to pay $11.5 million to the SEC for manipulating stock prices, failed to get the company's insurance policies to cover his liability.

After being sentenced to 17 years in federal prison and and forced to pay $11.5 million for illegally inflating the stock price of a publicly traded company for which he was general counsel, Century City attorney Mitchell J. Stein received more bad news: The company's insurer won't have to foot the bill for his three-year legal defense.
