Rising to Challenges
SAN RAFAEL - Superior Court Judge Jim Ritchie recently contemplated the fate of a criminal defendant he had just sentenced to jail. The young man, who was at times contrite and at others combative, had been a familiar face in Ritchie's Marin County felony trial courtroom. This time, the defendant appeared on charges that he had violated his probation.
