Despite Meteoric Success, Moreno Stays Close to His Roots

LOS ANGELES - Last week, between wrapping up cases and packing boxes, U.S. District Judge Carlos R. Moreno of Los Angeles was feted by a number of lawyers and judges and the local Yale Club. But he took Thursday morning off to speak at career day at Abraham Lincoln High School, the campus north of downtown Los Angeles from which he graduated 30 years ago and to which he has remained devoted to ever since.
