The cover photograph of Newsweek recently showed three New York City firefighters planting the American flag atop the rubble at "ground zero." Their symbolic tribute to fallen comrades was eerily reminiscent of the famous World War II photograph taken at Iwo Jima, forever cast in bronze in our nation's capital.
